Rekonseptualisasi pendidikan agama islam di era digital: interseksi antara tradisi pesantren dan metaverse dalam membentuk identitas muslim digital

This research explores the groundbreaking intersection between traditional Islamic boarding school (pesantren) education systems and emerging metaverse technology in reshaping Islamic religious education in Indonesia. As digital platforms increasingly become spaces for religious identity formation, this study analyzes how pesantren values can be preserved and reimagined within virtual environments while maintaining their essence. Through comprehensive literature analysis of both classical Islamic pedagogical texts and contemporary digital education research, we propose a novel framework for "Digital Pesantren" that integrates the spiritual-moral foundations of traditional Islamic education with immersive technology affordances. The findings reveal significant theoretical and practical implications: (1) the emergence of "hybrid tafaqquh" learning models that blend virtual and physical instruction, (2) reconceptualization of the kyai-santri relationship in digital spaces, and (3) establishment of virtual halaqah systems that maintain communal aspects of Islamic learning while expanding accessibility. This research addresses the critical gap in understanding how traditional Islamic educational institutions can maintain relevance and authenticity while participating in digital transformation, contributing to both educational theory and practical implementation strategies for Islamic educational institutions facing digital disruption.
